6th Nov 2005: vs. Thatcham Town Harriers

It was touch & go as to whether we played, with continuous rain (until the game finished!!) and a howling gale.... Anyway, the boys were up for it so the match went ahead. WW started off playing into the wind, but played well. The conditions were atrocious, making it difficult to play any sort of football. Lewis H played an unselfish game in the midfield, with some good one touch football, followed by excellent through passes to Adam up front. It was Conlan who opened the team's account mid way through the first half after some skilful footwork. Adam followed up shortly afterwards in the difficult conditions, with a big deflection. The boys were playing more and more like a team - when two ran at the ball, they managed to work out who would take possession without talking, but they were still dribbling into defenders rather than making an early pass. Stephen and Jordan were strong in the midfield. As the defenders drifted further and further upfield, Lewis C worked back tirelessly and made a number of critical tackles in our half of the field, to earn POTD.

In the second half, Adam and Conlan both scored again, in scrappy play in the box. Declan was struggling to keep warm (as did the parents!!) as he had a quiet game in goal, but managed to keep a clean sheet again, with the final score being 4-0.
