Much of the initial stages between Highworth C and Wickham were even with both sides attacking but neither keeper having to make any noteworthy saves. Wickham started to get some shoots on target but in the 15th minute a lovely pass out of the Highworth defence, sent Luke Robathan away. He stayed strong under pressure from Jordan Shaw and as Jack Moore came across to help, Luke hit a rasping drive which Ben Grey could only parry into the roof of the net. Wickham made an immediate change as Karl Admans was replaced by Oli Sopp which brought almost immediate rewards. A ball from Oli sent Jordan Burnett on his way but he was then brought down from behind. Jordan Shaw hit the free kick into the box and there was Josh Way to head in the equaliser. Charlie then had to replace Jordan who was clearly injured. He was then involved in some nice midfield interplay with William which ended up with a great pass to Josh. He still had a defender to beat which he did before driving the ball in with his right foot.
Much of the second half was played in the Highworth end but Wickham could never quite get the final ball right. Charlie did hit a screamer of a drive on the turn in the 5th minute into the top left hand corner to extend Wickham’s lead but a number of other chances were either blocked or well saved. Jack Moore and Jordan Shaw were solid in defence and when Jack had to come off injured Jordan Burnett did well in as a replacement for him.
