27 Nov 2005: vs. Swindon Soccer Skills

Wickham maintained their 100% league record after recording an 8 – 2 victory at Swindon Soccer Skills. Wickham went in front in the 1st minute with a great goal by Olly Sopp. 5 minutes later “Olly scored a great Volley” as a clearance from Jack Moore fell nicely over his head allowing him to turn at hit the ball at the same time. Soccer Skills immediately replied as a shot come across from the right hand side it went in off the far post. Olly however was on fire and duly completed his hat trick 5 minutes later which became four shortly afterwards. With 2 minutes to go he turned provider as he flicked the ball over the last defender for Charlie de Fraine to score. Soccer Skills could count themselves unlucky not to have scored again just before half time as the ball possibly crossed the line before being saved by Ben Grey but the ref was unsighted and could not give the goal.

Any chance of a Soccer Skills recovery was killed off in the 2nd minute of the second half as Charlie de Fraine shrugged off the attention of 3 defenders to score his second goal. Midway through the half a corner was swung deep into the Soccer Skills area where Jack Bolton scored with a looping header. Soccer Skills kept on battling and 5 minutes from the end they had a two attacker on one defender. Despite Jack Moore making a challenge the ball was slipped wide for the second attacker to score. Near the end Wickham found themselves in the same position as William Herrington drove forwards. Man of the match Olly Sopp was in support but was used as a decoy as William tucked the ball away.

Next week sees the top of the table battle as unbeaten Highworth A face unbeaten Wickham at “The Triangle”.
