Wickham's preparation for there first ever cup match at Coleshill was disrupted with the news that Jordan Shaw had spent the night it hospital following an asthma attack so was not available to play.
Wickham started positively and after only 3 minutes some good interplay between Karl, Josh and William eventually saw William Herrington in loads of space on the edge of the area. He steadied himself before crashing the ball into the back of the net breaking the back stanchion in the process. Coleshill came back into the match and quite often Jack Moore was the only defender with 3 forwards coming at him. When he was beaten Ben Grey was there making some fine saves. As Wickham attacked they had the same problem as Coleshill keeper was also keeping his side in the game performing heroics between the sticks. Despite Wickham hit the woodwork twice before, in the 22nd minute, a well taken corner and some poor making saw a powerful header by the Coleshill forward go in off the cross bar. Karl then hit the cross bar direct from a corner and William could only volley the cleared ball over the top, making the half time score 1-1.
Wickham came out more determined in the second half. Aiden had come on at the back, with Jack Bolton replacing Oli up front and Charlie replacing Karl. Karl was quickly back on, as Charlie took a knock and Wickham started to pass the ball around creating themselves some space. With 10 minutes gone Jack Bolton gave way to Charlie and almost immediately Wickham were back in front. A sweeping move starting from an interception from Aiden Weeks, eventually found Charlie on the left. He drew the keeper and laid the ball off sideways to Josh to tuck away put Wickham back in front. Coleshill continued to threaten but it was Wickham who scored following a Coleshill corner. Ben threw the ball out to Jack Moore who laid it inside to William. He then sent Charlie away down the middle and although his initial shot was saved by the keeper he continued his run and scored from the rebound. It was now all one way traffic and shots were coming in from all angles. The woodwork was hit three more time before William added his second and Wickham's 4th. Oli came on to replace William near the end and the Coleshill keeper was off his line quickly on a number of occasions to ensure that Wickham did not get another chance but a 4-1 victory ensured progression to the next round of the cup.
The Player of the Day award went to Charlie, as his introduction in the second half seemed to change things around.
