Wickham Wanderers 6-a-Side Tournament
During the forthcoming weekend, 21st - 22nd May, over 190 teams will be competing in the 9th Wickham Wanderers Youth FC Six-a-Side Tournament that has been kindly sponsored by The Newbury Weekly News.
With matches starting at 9.30 on both Saturday and Sunday, catering for all age groups from Under 7's up to Under 16's, and with finals for morning matches around 1.00pm and afternoon about 6.00pm it looks like being a busy, but exciting, weekend for everyone involved.
This is by far and away the largest Tournament that Wickham Wanderers have attempted to run, but as you can see from the numbers of teams entered this event has been very well supported. There are clubs from 11 different leagues participating, with Abbey Rangers (London), Castle Combe and Great Linford (Milton Keynes) vying for the team travelling the farthest distance to compete. Great support has also been received from other local clubs with Tadley Calleva entering 12 sides, Hungerford Juniors 11 sides, and Thatcham Tornadoes 9 sides.

If you are interested in youth football, then please do come along to the Triangle Field in Hungerford (opposite John O'Gaunt School) during the weekend. Apart from the football, there will also be a Bar-B-Q going all day with bacon butties available in the morning, bouncy castle and slides for the younger children, ice creams, sweets and candyfloss. It should prove to be a fun sporting day out for all.
