Wickham welcomed back Karl and Ben but were without Jordan S and Jack for the visit to Sherborne St John, which left Declan and Aiden as the defenders for both matches.
Match 31
Sherborne kicked off up the hill in the first half which Wickham had the better of. A good battle developed in midfield between William and Callum with both players giving the other plenty of respect. Sherborne always looked dangerous at corners and it was from one of these that Wickham opened the scoring. Ben, who had been struggling to get his goal kicks away hit a long ball to Jordan on the half way line. He laid the ball off the Karl who then fed Josh down the right wing. As Josh got clear of his man he looked up and attempted a pass to Jordan in the middle but the retreating Sherborne defender blasted the ball into the back of the net. The own goal was almost reciprocated as William deflected a shot onto the post from a corner with Ben possibly there to stop it anyway.
Wickham, attacking up the hill in the second half, almost scored straight from the restart but the chance just went wide of the post. This was to be Wickham's best chance of the half as Sherborne came more into the game. The Wickham defence were always just able to somehow scramble the ball away to safety, with the game eventually ending in a 1-0 win.

William Herrington, Jordan Burnett.
Subs:- Lewis Holborn, Thomas Inch.
Match 32
Sherborne again kicked off up the hill but Wickham seemed to be in more control this time except when Callum was allowed to run with the ball. In the 4th minute some lovely interplay between Lewis and Karl got Karl through onto the keeper. He managed to parry the ball onto the post and Thomas following in, could only put the ball wide. However from the resulting goal kick Karl gathered the clearance, took one pace and drilled it into the back of the net. In the 7th Minute a brilliant run by Callum created a great opportunity but the ball went wide. The resultant goal kick found William on the right in space. He went down the line, drawing two defenders over to him before slotting the ball across to Karl in the middle to score with ease.
Sherborne pulled one back as a throw in near the corner went over Karl and Thomas to Callum who turned and hit a sweet volley looping over the top of Ben into the far corner but worse was to follow. With the half almost over four Wickham players went chasing the ball by the corner flag. Non of them won the ball, so as the cross came in, two Sherborne players were unmarked. Despite the first missing the ball, it was an easy task for the second to score making it 2-2 at half time.
Ian pointed out how disappointed he was with the 2 goals conceded and that it would now be a battle to win going up the hill. Jordan and Josh were introduced for the second half with the kick off creating another chance, just like the first match, but Karl just failed to get onto William's cross. A throw in near the halfway line saw Karl race down the left, his shot was parried by the keeper but Jordan knocked the rebound in. Within minutes Sherborne had a corner which flew across the goal to the far corner. Here Aiden fed William who then advanced into the Sherborne half. As Jordan and Josh drew the defenders away William went all the way to drive the ball into the back of the net. Despite the slope Sherborne did not really get another attack in. Two more goals set up in a similar style, the first coming initially from a goal kick and the second from a throw in, as good play between William and Josh twice set Jordan free to complete his hat trick and a 6-2 victory.
The player of the day was a very close run thing between 4 players but it eventually went to Declan who grew in confidence with his defensive duties as the day went by.

William Herrington, Lewis Holborn
