24-Oct-04: Wickham Wanderers vs. Barton Stacey

Wickham Wanderers 7 - 0 Barton Stacey (Jack 4, Lewis 2 William)
Wickham Wanderers 2 - 1 Barton Stacey (William, Lewis)

A friendly fixture was arranged so that Wickham's under 8's who are playing up in the U9's side could have a match at their own age group. With the visitors having 7 players they asked to play 7-a-side giving William (and U9's player) permission to play in the match. Very quickly Wickham were on the attack and within two minutes William scored from distance. With two more quick goals coming from Jack, William dropped back into defence pushing Declan into midfield. Jack completed his hat trick before half time and with Lewis also scoring Wickham were dominating the match. For the second half Ben Grey then went out on pitch. Wickham had fewer chances this half but the visitors had no clear cut chances either. Jack scored his 4th and Lewis his 2nd as Wickham ran out 7-0 winners.

The second match saw the visitors take the lead, as Ben could only parry a shot and the Stacey forwards were on hand to eventually force the ball home. A nice interchange between Jack and William saw the later get the scores level, which remained the half time score. Ben Cowley was doing sterling work in midfield chasing back and helping Declan. The second half was very even with Ben making some good saves as normal. Thomas was pushing forwards helping Lewis and it was these two who created the first chance of the half. William, Jack, Lewis and Thomas were all denied by either last ditch tackles or by saves from the keeper, but finally a shot from William was half saved by the keeper and was probably forced over the line by Lewis. Lewis had some more chances to make the game safe but each time was denied by some fine saves. Ben however now had little to do thus Wickham ended up with a 2-1 win.

Ben Grey, Declan Hess, Thomas Philips, Ben Cowley, Jack Moore, William Herrington, Lewis Holborn.
