Wickham Wanderers Under 12's Match Report 19-Oct-2003

Hungerford Town 4 - 0 Wickham Wanderers

Hungerford Town won the battle of the near neighbours thanks to a commanding first-half performance in which they dominated the balance of play.

Sam Tompkins opened the scoring within the first few minutes when he capitalised on some indecisiveness in the Wickham defence to fire home. Three minutes later, Hungerford doubled their lead when they worked the ball down the left-hand flank to Michael Annetts who fired home from distance.

Shortly before half-time Hungerford effectively secured the points when Michael Morris in the Wickham goal was unable to claw out an in-swinging corner from Daniel Martin.

The second half was a much more even affair, as Wickham fought back with the ever industrious Man- of-the-Match Charlie Allsop crashing a header onto the bar from a floated corner from George Sage.

The Wickham defence, superbly marshalled by captain, Sam Peacock held firm until the latter minutes of the match, when Sam Tompkins struck home with a fine finish to make the final score 4 - 0 to the home side.
